WHAT TO EXPECT DURING PLACEMENT
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING PLACEMENT
✦ YOUR ONGOING RELATIONSHIP WITH PATHWAY PARTNERS
As your family’s partner we continue regular contact with clinicians and program staff as well as with you. We assess client progress
and review the entire family’s experience on
a continual basis.
✦ ARRANGING SECONDARY PLACEMENT
Placements may include an initial program followed by a long term program. We organize both placements, gathering information, contacting programs, assessing their relevance, and following your child’s progress. During your child’s initial placement, we will begin exploring options for a follow-up placement, if appropriate.
If wilderness is the first placement, we will work closely with staff, family and client to determine the need for a second placement and the best fit. The time during wilderness is often used to enhance the assessment of the client and to perform additional testing, as well as to give the client an opportunity to feel positive and hopeful about his or her own future.
Search for secondary placement begins immediately upon wilderness placement and you can expect to begin your investigation 2-3 weeks into the wilderness experience. The program therapist will share this plan at the appropriate time. Throughout wilderness, Pathway Partners maintains regular contact with your child’s therapist regarding treatment progress and date of graduation. Once the graduation date and subsequent placement are determined, most clients travel directly from their wilderness program to their next placement accompanied by family members or, if recommended, interventionists. Pathway Partners facilitates continuity of care by working directly with the wilderness therapist to make sure your child is well prepared for their school placement.
